Give a cash discount for paying by bank
Turn the cash discount on or off, set the percent and which payments get it.
A cash discount takes a percent off the regular price when a customer pays by bank (ACH), or by cash or check if you tick those. It is off until you turn it on.
- Open Invoices, click the Settings gear and find Cash Discount.
- Turn it on, set Cash Discount (%) (3 to start) and tick which payments get it under Cash Discount Applies To. Bank (ACH) is ticked to start.
- Click Save. Estimates, invoices, the customer portal, the invoice PDF and the pay form now show the regular total and the lower Pay by bank (ACH) total.
Recording a payment
- On an invoice, pick a method that gets the discount under How. The amount changes to the lower total and Take the cash discount is ticked.
- Click Record Payment. The discount is added as its own Cash discount line, so the balance comes out to $0.00.
- A bank payment made online in the portal gets the discount the same way. Voiding or refunding the payment takes its discount back off.
It is a discount, not a fee: card customers pay the regular price with nothing added. It can't be used while Card Fees is set to Surcharge. Turning it off hides it everywhere. Discounts already recorded stay on their invoices.
