Sales tax rates
Tax rates, a default rate, exempt customers and the tax line on invoices.
Off until an admin turns it on in Settings > Modules > Sales Tax. Every choice is a setting on its page's Settings button.
- Open Sales Tax under Billing and click Add Tax Rate. Name it (e.g. Calcasieu Parish), type the rate and tick Default rate for the one most customers pay.
- In Sales Tax Settings, pick the Taxable Lines (which kinds of Service are taxed where you work).
- On a customer, pick a different rate or tick Tax exempt and type the certificate number.
- Monthly invoices made from Billing get one tax line for the taxable lines. Invoices already made never change.
Tax rules differ by state and parish; check with your accountant which Services are taxable.
