App Glossary: The Names We Use

The names we use for each part of the app, so help articles, Sprout and the team all mean the same thing.

Layout

Page (also: Screen)
One whole screen you open from a menu, with its own title at the top. Where: Customers, Base, Route, Settings.

Card (also: Box)
A white box on a page that holds one group of info or one form. Where: Dashboard, a Customer page, Settings > Company, Estimates option cards.

Section (also: Settings section)
One titled part of a long page or card you can jump to. Where: Settings, Help Center articles, Procedures.

Fold (also: Accordion (industry), open/close section, "drawer" (said in chat))
A row with a title that opens to show more, then closes and stays tucked away. Where: Route finish screen (Conditions Seen), Property drawers in the CRM, Equipment panel, Equipment On Site.

Tab
A row of names across the top of a card; tapping one switches what shows inside that card. Never a page-level row in the Top Bar (the Menu does that service). Where: Route Service sheet (Service, Weather, Notes), Settings > Style.

Panel (also: Side Panel, Fly-out, Drawer)
A box that slides in from the side (full screen on phones) to view or edit without leaving the page. Where: Tasks panel, Automations builder, Add Widget gallery, Voice Notes panel.

Sheet (also: Phone Sheet (phone-sheet.js), Field Sheet, Bottom Sheet)
A screen-high card that rises from the bottom on a phone for one service or choice. Where: Route Service sheet, Tank Calculator sheet, Seasonal Adjust / Pause All sheets, Review sheet.

Print Sheet (also: Print View (?print=1), Order Sheet, Billing Sheet)
A paper-ready version of a page for printing or saving as PDF. Where: Billing sheet, Estimates print, Work orders, Reports print.

Board (also: Command Center board, Dispatch)
The day's services laid out as cards by team or status so the office can see and move work. Where: Base, Dispatch, Teams Day.

Timeline (also: Day Timeline, History, Activity)
A list of what happened in time order. Where: Timesheets, Changelog, Load Out day history, Activity on a Customer.

Widget (also: Dashboard Widget, Tile)
A small movable, resizable card on the Dashboard showing one thing at a glance. Where: Dashboard Weather, Radar, Controllers, Quick Actions.

Tile (also: Stat Tile, Link Tile)
A small square with a number or link inside a card. Where: Invoices and Estimates totals, Errors & Slow Pages Today, Weather forecast.

Table (also: List, Table Card)
Rows and columns of records you can scroll and tap. Where: Customers list, Reports > Review, Assigned / On This Program, Debug.

Menus and Bars

Side Menu (also: Sidebar, Menu)
The main list of pages down the left side (slides out on a phone). Where: Every CRM page, Route app side menu, parent CRM button at its top.

Top Bar (also: Header)
The bar across the top of every page. Left: Back or the Menu. Right: Edit, Add, Remove, then the main action far right (New or Save). Delete and Archive live under More. No row of page tabs or pills (#553, #555, #564). Where: Every page header (includes/header.php, format.php top_actions).

Office Left Menu Top Row
Sprout (logo) on the left; View Site and Settings on the right, same size as Sprout, same tile look as the Top Bar Right icons. Name shows on hover. Where: Top of the Office left menu on every CRM (includes/header.php).

Menu (also: Section Menu, Title Switcher)
The page name with ▾ on the left of the Top Bar; tapping it opens a grid of every section of that page. It is the only way to switch sections (phones can also swipe). Where: Tracker, Customer and Property pages, Equipment, Invoices, Estimates and every page with sections.

Page Title Toolbar (also: Title Pills, Toolbar)
Icon buttons on the title row, ending with the one main button. Where: Customers (New), Estimates, Tasks, Reports.

Bottom Menu (also: Bottom Bar, Tab Bar (bottom_menu.php))
The icon row along the bottom of the phone app for jumping between main pages. Where: Every page on a phone (default tabs: Route, Customers, Base, Tasks, More), plus the Customer Portal. Set in Settings > Bottom Menu.

List Bar (also: Search + Filter Row)
One row with a search box and filter pills above a list. Where: Customers, Properties, Emails, Dispatch.

Day Picker (also: Month Picker, Week Swipe)
Prev / day / Next buttons to choose which day or month you're looking at. Where: Base, Reports > Review Month, Route days.

Dropdown (also: Select, Picker, "by" dropdown)
A box you tap to pick one choice from a list. Where: Base filters (All Status, All Teams), bulk tag bar, Enroll, table headers.

Switch (also: Toggle, Checkbox)
An on/off control for a setting. Where: Settings rows, Test Mode, Keep Me Signed In.

More Button (also: More Pill, "…")
A small button that opens extra text or hidden choices. Where: Hints, Task steps, Help articles.

Messages and Alerts

Hint (also: Card Help, Help Line, Info Tip (the small (i)))
One line of help under a title; More opens it, Got It shrinks it to a small icon in the corner. Where: Route finish screen, Settings cards, Equipment, any card with help_text.

Toast (also: Message, Flash)
A short message that floats at the top and goes away by itself, sometimes with Undo. Where: "Service started" in Route, after Save on any form, Route arrive/start.

Pop-up (also: Modal, Dialog (<dialog>), Confirm)
A box in the middle of the screen you must answer before going on (Save / Cancel, Yes / No). Where: Route, Base, Billing, Automations.

Banner (also: Alert Banner, Test Mode bar, Demo Strip, Persistent Warning)
A strip across the page that stays until fixed, warning or telling you something. Where: Test Mode bar on test companies, Demo strip, overdue steps warning, alert-banner.

Alert (also: Weather Alert, Warning)
A heads-up about something that needs attention. Where: Weather card, Service Status incidents, Route weather.

Push Notification (also: Notification, App Push (app_push.php))
A message to the phone's lock screen from the iPhone app, even when it's closed. Where: Assignment and schedule notices, Text Assistant, team notices.

Live Activity (also: Lock Screen Card, Dynamic Island, CarPlay Dashboard Card)
A live card on the lock screen and CarPlay showing the current or next stop. Where: iPhone lock screen, Dynamic Island, CarPlay dashboard (from Route).

Text Message (also: SMS, Texts (sms.php))
A text sent to or from a customer or tech. Where: Messages, Text Assistant, automations.

Email (also: Mail, Emails)
An email sent from the system or read in the Emails inbox. Where: Emails, Billing mail, Estimates send, automations.

Labels and Small Pieces

Badge (also: Status, Tag (.badge.tag-chip), Palette Badge)
A small colored label showing a status or tag (blue planned, green done, orange due, red overdue). Where: Estimates status, Tasks, title Test badge, Debug counts.

Pill (also: Pill Button, Filter Pill, Note Pill)
A small rounded button or label, often in a row you can slide. Where: List bar filters, page title buttons, Task ticket on Route, Service Status.

Chip (also: Pick Chip (.pick-chip), Tag Chip)
A small tap-to-pick label; tap again to unpick. Where: Conditions Seen, Tag Picker, summary chips.

Dot (also: Status Dot)
A tiny colored circle showing status. Where: Service Status, team colors, Measure tool, tech dots on maps.

Icon Button (also: Quick Action, Call · Text · Email · Directions)
A button showing just an icon for a one-tap action. Where: Under a customer, property or Service; Quick Actions widget; page toolbar.

Other Pieces

Steps (also: checklist, step list, how-to)
The ONE shared way to give anyone (always Travis) something to do: one short action per step, links inside the step, a tick box to mark it done (so stopping midway shows where you left off), and a one-line note above. Read-only Steps are a numbered list in the same style. Where: Tasks and Your Move (task_steps_html, tickable), Route task lists, Tracker AI steps, Help articles and Hints (help_text_steps), Procedures and Summaries numbered lists (tx_render), Platform Costs Steps, Automations, in-app Sprout numbered answers (help.js stepsHtml). One CSS block in assets/style.css ("Steps: the ONE shared component"); no other step or checklist styles (the rules check fails a new one).

Map (also: Satellite, Street View, Radar)
A map or photo of a place you can tap or measure on. Where: Property page, Measure, Dashboard Radar, Street View card.

Calendar (also: Schedule, Calendar Feed)
Services shown by day, week or month. Where: Base, Schedule, calendar feed.

Search Box (also: Find, App Find)
A box to type and find records. Where: List bar, top bar search, Settings search.

Mascot (also: Sprout)
The company character that talks and reacts. Where: Side menu brand, Sprout assistant, login scene.
